Student visa for Cyprus

To enter Cyprus for attending your classes, you will require a student visa. However, check the conditions below:

  • If you are from the EU and your study course is for less than 90 days, you don’t require a student visa.
  • If you are not a citizen of a European Union member state or of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland (EFTA) you will need to take a student visa even though your study course is less than 90 days in Cyprus.

For visa application, you will require some important documents. These documents will be checked and verified for the approval of the visa. The document requirements are::

  • A filled Cyprus student visa application form.
  • A valid passport. It must be valid for at least 1 more year, starting from the date of entry in Cyprus. 
  • 4 recent passport-sized pictures having a white background.
  • Letter of admission from the Cyprus educational institution.
  • Originals of past academic qualifications certificates.
  • Proof you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Cyprus while studying. You can present your bank statements, a scholarship, or a letter of sponsorship.
  • Proof of no criminal record from the police
  • Travel health insurance.

Once you arrive in Cyprus on a student visa, you must apply for a Temporary Cyprus Residence Permit. It is the residence permit which allows you to legally live and study in Cyprus for over 90 days. You can visit Cyprus Migration Department for this permit.

Study and work in Cyprus

Yes, international students can work with a student visa while studying in Cyprus.  Also, note that you will be allowed to work only up to 20 hours per week. You will need to submit a work contract in the District Employment Office for approval.
